So I had a little lesson from God this week that had something to do with such a little thing that one of my kiddos tend to do sometimes. I didn’t think anything of it, had a little inclination from the Holy Spirit saying this is something for you, a little lesson. Listen and think on it.
So have you ever heard that spending time with God and His Word (which is alive and active) is like your Spiritual food. Just like we need physical food to live in our physical bodies, we need Spiritual food to stay nourished in our Spiritual bodies (for lack of better word).
“Is anyone thirsty?
Come and drink—
even if you have no money!
Come, take your choice of wine or milk—
it’s all free!
2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?
Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food.
Ok so back to my story, just wanted to kind of share where I was coming from. After a week of not spending much time sitting still and reading my Bible, but kind of was more on the run grabbing whatever I could for Spiritual food this happened. This little thing.
A certain kiddo has this electronic device you see. And they will use it until the battery dies. Then when the battery dies, they just move on to finding something else to do. That’s it. They don’t want to take the time to put that certain electrical device on the charger to recharge it so they can play it again sometime. That’s too much to do or think about. So they just leave it and move on.
Well I was giggling to this kiddo and taking it myself and putting it on the charger when they mentioned they couldn’t get on it because the battery was dead. And that’s when God said hey this is a little lesson. You see, just for figurative reasons I was comparing the electronic device that was dead because it had no charge to myself that hadn’t been in God’s Word (living and active and feeds my Spirit) all week and had been feeling drained. It was a little light bulb saying, hey! Do you see, you feel drained and don’t want to take the time to go “charge” yourself with God’s Word (living and active) and then you wonder why you feel the way that you do?
That was my heart lesson from God this week. I need to take the time daily as often as possible to sit with Him and His alive and active Word so I can be charged and not feeling drained and powerless during my week. I. Need. Him.
Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
